About
The mission of the New Teacher Collab is to break down barriers and open classroom doors to connect new teachers with their peers and more experienced educators to improve new teachers' confidence in their teaching and retention in the profession.
The New Teacher Collab is focused on new teacher induction through mentorship, collaboration and access to resources. New and experienced teachers alike can connect and create communities through forums, groups, live video sessions and a resource library. New teachers can also connect with experienced educators to serve as their virtual mentor(s) based on common affinities and/or content areas of interest. Through this peer-supported, interest-powered, academically-oriented community, teachers can co-construct new knowledge about teaching and learning.
Ways to Connect With NTC
The New Teacher Collab is broken down into five different community spaces: the Resource Library, Virtual Mentorship connections, First Year Teacher (FYT) Groups, Q&A Forums, and Live Sessions. Each space provides different ways for new teachers to connect with others and gain resources. Want to learn more? Explore what each community space has to offer below:
Resource Library
The Resource Library is filled with articles, websites, videos and more to support your transition into teaching. It is organized into content and affinity based categories. Everything is available to download and you are welcome to submit your own resources to be added to the library.
Virtual Mentorship
The Virtual Mentorship program is a place where you can connect with experienced educator(s) based on common interest. These mentors will support you in your first year and assist you in developing a Professional Learning Network of your own!
First Year Teacher Groups
First Year Teacher (FYT) Groups are a space for you to connect with other first year teachers who have similar interests. Groups are organized by content and affinity and you can join all that fit with your interests. Ask questions, share experiences and develop friendships along the way!
Q & A
Forums
In the Q&A Forums, you can ask both new and experienced teachers questions about what is going on in your school and classroom. Read through past discussions organized by content, affinity and grade. Also, answer others' questions based on your own experiences.
Live Support Sessions
Every month, live video sessions will be held by experienced teacher(s) focusing on an aspect of teaching (e.g., classroom organization, management, etc.) This will provide you an opportunity to see into their classrooms, observe strategies in action and ask questions in real time.
